Fine tuning!

Today the piano tuner is here taking care of my piano.  I really had to laugh because I thought that my piano was really holding it's tune fairly well.  My fine piano tuner was here less than two minutes, hit a couple keys and said, "Wow! That's really out of tune.".  I gulped.  But... the master knows.

You see, I kind of let my piano go a little too long between tunings, it's been four years since it was last done.  Ideally, it should be tuned yearly.  The piano tuner knew that and thus, he came a little earlier this morning because he knew it would take longer to get it back to where it should be.

As I sit here, listening to him strike the keys and adjusting his wrench to get my piano in tune, I couldn't help but think if that's how God feels about us when we've been too long between "tunings".  How much simpler it is to stay in tune with God when we seek him daily to tune us to His will.  But, when we have tried it on our own for a little too long, it takes us a little longer to get back in tune with Him.

How's your quiet time with God?  Could it be that you need to join me in having The Master fine tune our lives for His glory?
